Mark E. Hatfield, son of Willa Neal Hatfield Gardner and the late Cleo Edward Hatfield, was born in Hammond, Indiana on September 15, 1952, and passed away at the Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County in Dexter, Missouri on March 24, 2014, at the age of 61 years, 6 months and 9 days.
He had been raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served four years and nine months, lived in Nasville for several years before moving to Essex several years ago. He had worked installing sprinkler systems in Nashville before his health forced his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
On August 10, 2009, he was married to Donna Sue Marrs in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Hatfield of Essex; one daughter, Cherise Hatfield of Cape Girardeau; one son, Joseph Marrs of Charleston, Illinois; two grandchildren, P. J. and Mia Matrisotto; four brothers, Jeffrey W. Hatfield of Advance, Eric N. Hatfield of Mishawaki, Indiana, Kevin L. and William D. Hatfield both of Ashland City, Tennessee; one sister, Susan Hatfield Gaines of Dexter. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Mark Edward "Buck" Hatfield, Jr. and his father, Cleo Edward Hatfield.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Dexter officiating.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
