Marjorie Manerva Quick Proffer, daughter of the late Luther F. and Millie A Scism Quick, was born on August 31, 1916, in rural Bloomfield, Missouri and passed away at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on January 10, 2013, at the age of 96 years.
On October 29, 1943, she was married to Lee T. Proffer in Dexter, Missouri. She had lived in Bloomfield all her life, had a teaching career of over 30 years, and had been a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield until moving to Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee T. Proffer, four brothers, Asa A. Quick, George O. Quick, Cloid V. Quick and Seldon F. Quick; two sisters, Floda Glaser and Geraldine Quick.
Surviving are one son, James Proffer of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Mary Johnson of Festus; one grandson, Jason Johnson of Festus; and one sister-in-law, Louisa Quick of Bloomfield. She also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may visit on Monday January 14, 2013, after 12:00 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Funeral services will be held on Monday January 14, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Bro. Jeremy Myers of Bloomfield, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the North Antioch Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
