Marion Wilbert Smith, the son of the late Charles and Bertha Delaney Smith, was born in Neelyville, Missouri on June 29, 1933, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on December 16, 2005, at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 17 days. He had lived in Puxico, Missouri for many years. He was a retired carpenter, enjoyed wood working and working in his yard. He was first married to Barbara Biggs and two children were born. He later married Barbara Powell Howard. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Smith of Puxico, Missouri; one son and daughter in law, Randy and Janet Smith of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; one daughter and son in law, Becky and Bill Cannaday of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; one step-son, Richard Howard of Jackson, Missouri; two step-daughters and husbands, Melodie and Wayne Summers of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Candy and Gary Williams of Broseley, Missouri; four grandchildren, Steve and Sara Beth Smith, Christy and Matthew Cannaday; six step-grandchildren, Misty Davis, Melissa (Donnie) Looney, Wendy (Mark) O'Kelly, Tonya Douglas, Eric (Andrea) Summers, and Darren Summers, eight great grandchildren, one brother and sister in law, Raymond and Hazel Smith of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; two sisters and brother in law, Goldie and John Meyer of Overland, Missouri, and Pauline Gallion of Bellevue, Illinois. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Taze, Leroy, Odes, and Kenneth Smith, two sisters, Grace Ashby and Lydia Poglejan. Friends may call after 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 18, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 19, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Dean Medlin of Parma, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
