Margie Ann Mathis

Margie Ann Mathis of Dexter, daughter of the late Ralph and Fanny Siler Griffy, was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on December 24, 1938, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on February 19, 2017, at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 26 days. Mrs. Mathis had lived in the Bloomfield and Dexter areas all of her life. She had worked and retired from Elder's Manufacturing where she was a seamstress. On December 28, 1960, she married Donald Mathis in Dexter, Missouri. Surviving are her husband, Donald "Daddy Jack" Mathis of Dexter; one son and wife, Dale & Lori Mathis of Bernie; one daughter and husband, LaDonna & Steve Riney of Puxico; four grandchildren and spouses, Renee & Jeremy Holt of Puxico, Sarah McDonald of Bernie, Chris & April Riney of Puxico, Daniel Mathis of Bernie; seven great grandchildren, Kayla Holt, Hunter Holt, Tristyn McDonald, Alyssa Cowan, Hunter Cowan, Meghan Riney, Brooklynn Riney, and two more on the way; one sister, Linda Hallmark of Wappapello; and one sister-in-law, Betty Griffy of Nixa, Missouri. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survives. She was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. Friends may call on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Rev. Larry Tucker of Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
