Marceda Ann Wyman, daughter of the late Ollie & Pearl Davis Fox, was born near Essex, Missouri on May 26, 1942, and passed away at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on February 27, 2011, at the age of 68 years, 9 months and 1 day.
On May 27, 1961, she was married to Marvin Ray Wyman. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1991.
Marvin & Marceda moved to Chicago, Illinois where she worked as a switchboard operator for Illinois Bell Telephone. In 1964, they moved back home to start their family. Although Marceda was a life-long homemaker, she also worked for several years cleaning homes in the Stoddard County area. In 1988, she began working for the Richland School system as a cook in the cafeteria where she worked until 2000 and she was proud to have fed hundreds of children while working in the cafeteria.
She was a member of the Castor River General Baptist Church where she had served many terms as a Sunday School Teacher. She rarely missed a church service, whether at her home church, or at neighboring churches. She greatly enjoyed Southern Gospel music, especially those songs performed by her children. Marceda was known by her acquaintances as a hard-working homemaker, a devout Christian, and a loving mother and grandmother. By those who really knew her, she was revealed as God's angel on earth.
Surviving are one daughter and spouse, Karen Lynn & Kenny Mier of Dexter, Missouri; three sons and spouses, Gary Wayne Wyman of Essex, Missouri, Steven Ray & Jana Wyman of Dexter, Missouri, David Lee & Carrie Wyman of Essex, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jacob Mier, Ashlynn, Kate, Logan, Brock and Joe Wyman; one sister, Leatrice "Joy" Swinger of Essex, Missouri; two brothers, Larry "Bill" Fox of Dexter, Missouri and Ollie "Sonny" Fox of Chicago, Illinois. Many other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Miller.
Friends may visit on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 2:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Harold Carter of Bernie, Missouri and the Rev. Dale McFarland of Sikeston, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
