Mackie "Randy" Gromer, the son of Myrtle Ritchie Gromer and the late Howard E. Gromer, was born in Dexter, Missouri on September 8, 1953, and passed away at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana on July 21, 2006, at the age of 52 years, 10 months, and 13 days.
He had lived in Dexter, Missouri, Jackson, Mississippi and Tampa, Florida before moving to Dry Prong, Louisiana four years ago. He was a graduate of Richland High School and had worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are one son, Damian Joseph Gromer of Mississippi; two granddaughters; his mother, Myrtle Gromer of Dexter, Missouri; one brother, Bill H. Gromer of Van Buren, Missouri; three sisters, Betty J. Lewis of Campbell, Missouri, Cathy R. Nugent of Montgomery, Louisiana, and Lisa D. Delrie of Dry Prong, Louisiana. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Shawn Mangus.
Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at 3:30 P.M. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Chris Dixon of Corning, Arkansas and the Rev. Jack Lewis of Campbell, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri. Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.
