Lyle F. Hill, son of the late Commodore and Minta Findley Hill, was born in Puxico, Missouri on January 27, 1925, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing & Rehab Center in Puxico, Missouri on April 21, 2010, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 25 days.
He had lived in Columbia and Caseyville, Illinois before returning to Puxico in 1984. He was a member of the Columbia Baptist Church in Columbia, Illinois, Puxico Masonic Lodge AF & AM #596 with 50 years of service, and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He had graduated from Puxico High School Class of 1942, was retired from Monsanto and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, lawn care and reading.
On August 22, 1947, he was married to Geraldine "Jerry" Bennett in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Geraldine "Jerry" Hill of Puxico, Missouri; one son, Lyle Randall Hill of Puxico, Missouri; two daughters, Lynda McDannald of Puxico, Missouri, Brenda Lantis of Griffin, Georgia; three grandchildren; seven great granddaughters; and one great great grandson; three step-grandchildren; several step-great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held on Friday April 23, 2010, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010, at 2:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Eddie Bennett and Rev. Kenneth Lambert officiating.
Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
