Luther Allen Whitalker, the son of the late Hiram and Pearl Moore Whitaker was born in Catron, Missouri on July 24, 1926, and passed away at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri on May 29, 2007, at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 5 days. Mr. Whitaker had lived in Parma and moved to Dexter, Missouri many years ago. He had worked in construction, farmed and had rental property. On November 16, 1945, he was married to Virginia Pauline Parker in St. Louis, Missouri. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Pauline Whitaker of Dexter, Missouri; two daughters, Shirley Whitaker of Dexter, Missouri, Virginia Hendrix of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; four sons, Aubrey Finch of Bernie, Missouri, Marvin, Bobby and Joe Finch all of Dexter, Missouri; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three sisters, Blythe Lawrence of Wier, Kansas, Mary Dugger and Darlene Parks both of Dudley, Missouri; one brother, Winford Whitaker of Puxico, Missouri, several half-brothers and sisters. Many other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Reed, and three brothers, Louis, Cecil and Olen Whitaker. Friends may call on Friday, June 1, 2007, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at 11:00 AM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Frank Townsend of Parma, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
