Loyd Snider, son of the late Riley and Grace Bridges Snider, was born in Essex, Missouri on August 12, 1918, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff on January 5, 2016, at the age of 97 years. He lived in Bloomfield most of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield where he had served as a deacon. He had participated in the Meals on Wheels program. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during WWII, and was a member of the Amvets. He was first married to Louise Harris and she preceded him in death. He was then married to Daisy Miller and she preceded him in death. Surviving are one daughter, Shirley Furness of Newberg, Oregon; one step-daughter, Carol Walton of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three sisters, Sue Barnfield and Freda Geiger both of Puxico, Missouri and Dorothy Johnson of Reno, Nevada. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Snider; one daughter, Beverley Patterson; two brothers, Floyd and Chester Snider and one sister, Eunice Wolpers. Friends may visit on Thursday, January 7, 2016, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 8, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Jerry Darby of Malden officiating. Interment will follow at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
