Lovena Dowdy, daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Edna Marie Dempsy Dowdy, was born in Idalia, Missouri, on April 15, 1940, and passed away at her home in Dexter, Missouri on May 22, 2014, at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 7 days.
She had lived most of her life in Dexter, Missouri, and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Surviving are four sons, Robert Dale Holmes of Dexter, Missouri, James "Bud" Lykins of Circle City, Missouri, Roy Lykins of Arkansas, and Danny Lykins of Dexter, Missouri; three daughters, Cindy Dowdy of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Tonya Chapman of Puxico, Missouri, and Nicole Mitchell of Dexter, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Larry and Richard Dowdy of Dexter, Missouri; and two sisters, Iva Horn and Nancy Pullum of Dexter, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters, and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in Dexter.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Dexter Kingdom Hall in Dexter, Missouri.
