Lora Pauline Friday, the daughter of the late Grover Garland and Gertrude Dane Melton Hillis, was born in Jerusalem, Arkansas on November 27, 1907, and passed away at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter, Missouri on December 2, 2005, at the age of 98 years and 5 days.
Mrs. Friday was a homemaker and had lived in Texas for many years before moving to Essex, Missouri several years ago. She had been a resident of Cypress Point Healthcare for the past two years. She was a member of the Sweeney Baptist Church in Sweeney, Texas.
In 1928 she was married to Guy Friday and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are one brother, Durrell Hillis of Paradise Valley, Arizona, two sisters, Vida Marie Carmichael of Tucson, Arizona and Ida Ellen Kendell of Pocahontas, Arkansas. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl Garland Hillis, Carl Joseph Hillis, Harl Franklin Hillis, and Bervil Garlans Hillis, two sisters, Viva J. Sexton and Ora Lee Hillis.
Friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at 10:00 A.M. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. James Malloy of Essex, Missouri officiating.
