Leon Sides, the son of the late Columbus Lincoln and Hattie Sides, was born in Peru, Indiana on June 10, 1922, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri on June 9, 2008, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 30 days.
Mr. Sides had lived in Dexter, Missouri most of his life.
In 1971 he was married to Almeta Dowdy. She preceded him in death on October 25, 2001.
Surviving are six daughters, Brenda Brown of Roanoke, Indiana, Glenda Horine of Upland, Indiana, Sharon Goings of Gas City, Indiana, LaVeta Byrd of Fort Stewart, Georiga, Norma Lawhorn of Dexter, Missouri, Rita Clawson of Dexter, Missouri; two sons, Everett Lee Sides of Anderson, Indiana, Billy Mitchell of Louisiana; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; two sisters, Lavern of California and Hazel Rodgers of Dallas, Texas. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elver and Elsie.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at 1:00 PM at the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri with Rev. Jim Hoyt of Poplar Bluff, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
