Lela G. Marquis
Lela G. Marquis, the daughter of the late Willie and Hattie Mae Warren Duck, was born in Dyer, Tennessee on October 5, 1917, and passed away at the Beverly Healthcare Center in Bloomfield, Missouri on July 31, 2005, at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 26 days.
Mrs. Marquis had lived in Malden, Missouri until 1954 before moving to Dexter, Missouri. She was retired from Elders Manufacturing where she was a seamtress for over 30 years.
She was married to Joe Marquis on October 24, 1953 in Bernie, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1996.
Surviving are 4 sons: Wayne Marquis of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, James Wheatley of Severn, Maryland, Paul Wheatley of Memphis, Tennessee and Elbert Wheatley of Piedmont, Missouri, 2 daughters: Betty Owens and Pat Batten both of Dexter, MIssouri, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, 1 brother: Bill Duck of Jackson, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Harvey and Robert Duck

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at 10:00 A.M. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Lester Clayton of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sadler's Chapel Cemetery near Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of local arrangements.
