Laura Woodson, daughter of the late Eldgria and Blanche McCalister Brock, was born in Essex, Missouri on August 28, 1959, and passed away at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on March 5, 2010, at the age of 50 years, 6 months and 5 days.
Laura attended school in the Richland School District where she was active in cheerleading and volleyball. After graduation from high school she attended nursing school and received her LPN license. She was a member of the Smith Chapel United Methodist Church in Sikeston. In 1994, she was married to Robert Woodson. Robert was a loving husband and step-father to Laura's children.
She always lived a full life and continued to do so for seven years after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She took care of her children, grandson and for a time her husband after he became ill.
In 2008, when her health began to fail she continued to smile and fight valiantly.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Woodson of Tamms, Illinois; two daughters, Ashleigh Brock and Chandra Brock both of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, one grandson, Jalen of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Brock of St. Louis, Missouri, Janice Brock of Lawrence, Kansas; four brothers, Lee Brock of Tampa, Florida, Dave Brock of Orlando, Florida, Albert Brock and Glen Brock both of Roanoke, Virginia. Other relatives and friends survive.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 9, 2010, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri with Rev. Roger Jespersen of Cape Girardeau, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
