Lance Cannon

Lance Ludell Cannon was born on Dec 24, 1917, in Bassett, Arkansas, son of the late Frank and Maude Bennett Cannon, and passed away Monday, Dec 17, 2012, in the Cypress Point Nursing Home in Dexter at the age of 94. On July 20, 1940 he married Clara Irene McClung, who preceded him in death on April 12, 1994, after 54 years of marriage, and to this union, three children were born. Mr. Cannon was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, and had served in the Pacific during World War II. He had lived and worked as a farmer and carpenter in Essex, Missouri since 1946. Mr. Cannon is survived by his son Malcom Cannon and daughter-in-law Anna Cannon of Essex, Missouri, and daughter Sheila Turner of Pinellas Park, Florida. Additional survivors include four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother Sidney Cannon of Memphis, Tennessee, and his brother and sister-in-law James and Gertrude Cannon of San Antonio, Texas, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Billy Leon Cannon, and six brothers, Robert Cannon, Odell Cannon, Martin Cannon, Leroy Cannon, Guy Cannon, and Pat Cannon. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm in the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter officiating. Burial will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
