Lamon Lamar Harkness

Lamar Harkness, the son of the late Connie Clarence and Ather Beatrice Williams Harkness, was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi on November 20, 1927, and passed away at the Missouri Southern Healthcare facility in Dexter, Missouri on February 3, 2007, at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 14 days. He had moved to Missouri in 1955, and had lived in the Puxico, Missouri area since 1962. He was a carpenter and a carpet layer and was a member of the Church of Christ in Puxico, Missouri. On December 12, 1955, he was married to Lottie B. Baker in Rockford, Illinois. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2002. Surviving are one daughter, April Lovell of Dexter, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Shirley Whitaker, Monica Lovell and Bryon Lovell all of Dexter, Missouri, Larry, Sandra, Dale, Cindy and Steve Crutchfield all of Michigan; two great grandchildren, Mark Sanders and Lakota Sanders both of Dexter, Missouri; one sister, Doris Ann Thompson of Dexter, Missouri; two brothers, George Henry Travis Harkness of Dexter, Missouri and Lewis Herbert Harkness of Coal Hill, Arkansas. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Juanita Finch in 1973, one step-son, William J. Crutchfield, one brother, Clarence Eugene Harkness and one sister, Beatrice Euree Holland. Friends may call on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2007, at 11:00 A.M. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Bro. Dale Grissom of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.
