L. L. "Louis" McConnell, son of the late Eddie Cleveland and Beulah Gale Stephenson McConnell, was born in Cabot, Arkansas on May 4, 1921, and passed away at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on September 12, 2009, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 8 days.
Mr. McConnell had lived in Southeast Missouri most of his life and moved to Dexter from Sikeston in 1951. He had owned McConnell's Gas Station for 29 years and L & L Trucking before his retirement. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
On December 24, 1941, he was married to Frankie Anita "Shorty" Johnson in Charleston, Missouri. She preceded him in death on December 29, 1999.
Surviving are one daughter, Judy Casey of Dexter, Missouri; one son, L. E. McConnell, Sr. of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; three grandchildren; Brian Keith Casey and Eugene McConnell, Jr. both of Dexter, Missouri, Rebecca Ann McConnell of New Madrid, Missouri; two great grandchildren; Madison Taylor McConnell and Wyatt Ethen McConnell both of Dexter, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mattie, Maggie, & Mozell; and four brothers, Floyd, Athel, Tobe & Paul.
Friends may call on Monday, September 14, 2009, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at 2:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Tim Russell of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with full military rites, Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
