Joy K. French
Joy K. French, daughter of the late Fred and Fay Hogue Hefner, was born in McGee, Missouri on November 28, 1927, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on August 9, 2011, at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 11 days.
She had lived in Madison, IL for several years and moved to the Zalma and McGee area twenty years ago .She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Granite City, IL, and enjoyed bowling and fishing.
She was married to William A. Tanner and later married Les French. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Surviving are four sons; William C. Tanner, David G Tanner, Ronald Tanner all of Granite City, IL and Fred H. Tanner of Madison, IL; one daughter Janet Thorton of Granite City, IL, ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceding in death by one grandson Wm Tanner, Jr, three sisters; Wilma, Linda Wilfong and Nadine Carver, and one brother Monroe Hefner.
Friends may call on Thursday, August 11, 2011, after 6:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 12, 2011, at 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Leroy Hefner of Advance, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Hope-McGee Cemetery in near McGee, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
