Josie A. Peppers, the daughter of the late Phillip and Sarah Jane Miller Sutton, was born in Double Springs, Alabama on June 23, 1916, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing & Rehab Center in Puxico, Missouri on March 19, 2009, at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 24 days. Mrs. Peppers had moved from Double Springs, Alabama to Puxico, Missouri in 1936. She had worked on the farm with her husband and was of the Baptist Faith. On February 14, 1932, she was married to Jermon Peppers. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1980. Surviving are one daughter and son in law, Joyce "Jodi" & James Conner of Puxico, Missouri; eight grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren; and thirteen great great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Justine Peppers Dennison; one son, Jerome Peppers, eight brothers and one sister. Friends may call on Monday, March 23, 2009, after 6:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Gene Lancaster of Risco, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Hollis Cemetery near Acorn Ridge, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
