Joseph R. Capps, son of the late James Robert and Zetta Long Capps, was born on August 25, 1935, in Bakersfield, California and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Dexter, Missouri on January 22, 2012, at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 28 days.
Mr. Capps had lived in Michigan before moving Advance, Missouri forty-two years ago. He had worked at Arvin Automotive in Dexter and was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
On October 21, 1960, he was married to Kathryn C. O'Bryant in Buchanan, Michigan.
Surviving are his wife, Kathryn C. Capps of Advance, Missouri; two sons, Joey Capps and David Capps both of Advance, Missouri; three daughters, Linda Anderson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Pat Thurman of Advance, Missouri, Teresa Richardson of Summersville, Missouri; six grandchildren; three brothers, Bobby Glenn Capps of Jefferson City, Missouri, Coleman Capps of Advance, Missouri, Willie Capps of Monett, Missouri; seven sisters, Shirley Kidd of Advance, Missouri, Mary Classcock of Colorado, Patricia Starkl of Dexter, Missouri, Vicky Green and Phyllis VanGennip both of Monett, Missouri, Rosalie Capps of St. Louis, Missouri and Janie Sandovol of Illinois. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Clifford Capps and his step-mother, Josephine Capps.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday January 28, 2012, at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, Missouri with Jesse Lacey of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. before the services.
