John Robert Vines, Sr., son of the late Sam and Ilah Hays Vines, was born in Sikeston, Missouri, on October 17, 1952, and passed away at his home in Dexter, Missouri on January 13, 2012, at the age of 59 years.
He was raised in Sikeston and had lived in Dexter in 1984. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter. He had worked in banking all of his professional career, which began with Security Federal Savings and Loan in Malden, Missouri and was an avid golfer. He was a long-time member of Rotary Club International and member of the Father Slay Council of Knights of Columbus.
On October 18, 1980, he married Nancy S. Nelson.
Surviving his wife, Nancy Vines of Dexter, Missouri; one son, John (Johnny) R. Vines, Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter, Emily E. Vines of the home in Dexter, Missouri; two sisters, Janie Vines McPherson and Jeannie Vines Box; and two brothers, Jim Vines and Joey Vines all of Sikeston, Missouri. Other family and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2012, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter with Father David Dohogne of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
