John M. "Mac" Townsend, son of the late Delbert and Mildred Ashbaugh Townsend, was born in Puxico, Missouri on October 19, 1938, and passed away at the Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center in Los Angeles, California on December 2, 2007, at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 13 days.
Mr. Townsend had lived in Missouri before moving to California 42 years ago. He was a computer engineer with the Boeing Corporation in the aerospace industry. His hobbies included working on his computer, reading, going to the movies, writing poetry, and he loved to come home to Puxico and visit.
Surviving are his fiance', Maria Cabrera of El Segundo, California; four sons, Bruce Townsend and wife, Julie, Bart Townsend and wife, Gloria, all of Quincy, Illinois, Jeff Simmons and Joe Townsend and his wife, Anne Marie; four daughters, Debbie Maurer and husband, Roger, of Freeburg, Illinois, Susie Torres and husband, Dominic, and Brenda Davis all of Corona, California, and Sarah Townsend of Las Vegas, Nevada; thirteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters, Doris Leslie and husband, Gene, of Puxico, Missouri and Donna Reining and husband, Gale, of Mesa, Arizona, nieces, nephews, and countless friends and family members who loved him. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Holem.
Friends may call on Friday, December 7, 2007, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 8, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Ray Placher of Puxico, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
