John Franklin Powell
John Franklin Powell, the son of the late John F. and Pearl E. Kimes Powell, was born in Puxico, Missouri on January 1, 1918, and passed away at his home in Puxico, Missouri on October 14, 2008, at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 13 days.
Mr. Powell had lived in Puxico, Missouri all of his life. He had worked at Dean's Service Station for twenty-two years and was a member of the Church of Christ in Asherville, Missouri. He was a coon hunter and loved gardening and trading coon dogs.
On Novewmber 3, 1962, he was married to Juvata Looney in Puxico, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife Juvata Powell of Puxico, Missouri; one son, Johnny C. Powell of Puxico, Missouri; one daughter, Mary Ann Greer of Puxico, Missouri; one step-son, Ronald D. Looney of Puxico, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Geer; three sisters, Fredia, Melba, and Rita; and three brothers, Freeman, Carlos and Frances.
Friends may call on Thursday, October 16, 2008, after 6:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2008, at 10:00 AM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Bro. Terry Stockman of Sikeston, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
