John Gaines

John Earl Gaines, Sr., son of the late Noah Osian and Virgie Beulah Whitehead Gaines, , was born in Bernie, Missouri on November 27, 1944, and passed away the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on January 20, 2011, at the age of 66 years, 1 months and 24 days. Mr. Gaines had lived most of his life in the Bernie and Dexter area and was of the Assembly of God faith. Mr. Gaines was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during Vietnam. Surviving are one son, John Gaines, Jr. of Dexter, Missouri; two daughters, Cindy Gaines Skaggs of Greenville, Missouri, Shanna Gaines Moore of Rineyville, Kentucky; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Colin Gaines of St. Louis, Missouri and one sister, June Gaines Dennis of Springfield, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister in infancy, Mary Leona Gaines and one grandson, Dustin Noah Gaines. Visitation will be Friday, January 28, 2011, after 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 28, 2011, at 1:00 PM at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full Military Honors with Chaplain Herb Zaricore of Poplar Bluff, Officiating. Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
