Jessie A. McRoy, daughter of the late Albert and Mabel Ramsey Lay, was born in Vanduser, Missouri on January 26, 1917, and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Dexter, Missouri on October 18, 2007, at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 22 days.
Mrs. McRoy had lived most of her life in Stoddard County, Missouri. She attended the First Nazarene Church in Dexter, Missouri.
She was married to Charley McRoy in Bell City, Missouri and he preceded her in death on March 26, 1985.
Surviving are one son, Charles McRoy of Dudley, Missouri; two grandchildren and spouses, Kenneth & Angela Ortt , Scott & Bessie McRoy; three great grandchildren, Ashley Soles, Chasity Davis and Eric Ortt; one great great grandson, Owen Davis; two brothers, Hugh Lay of Bloomfield, Missouri, and A. C. Lay of Dexter, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Maggie Lay, Joyce Spurgeon, Sis Rampley and Dude Burkhart.
Friends may call on Saturday October 20, 2007, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday October 21, 2007, at 1:30 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Roger Wooten of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
