Jesse Christian

Jesse Lavern Christian, son of the late Winford Dudley and Maude Ann Menley Christian, was born in Catron, Missouri on June 13, 1931, and passed away at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on September 17, 2010, at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 4 days. Mr. Christian had lived in Parma before moving to near Dexter in 1980. He moved to Bloomfield, Missouri three years ago. He was a retired farmer. On April 4, 1954, he was married to Martha Jo Warren in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on September 29, 1994. Surviving are three sons, Don Christian of Dexter, Missouri, Vernon Christian of Bernie, Missouri, Thomas Christian of Hollister, Missouri; three daughters, Peggy Harris and Judy Sadler both of Bloomfield, Missouri and Norma Christian of Whitehall, Arkansas; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Leek of Burton, Michigan, and Lillian Orton of Dexter, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lotes Lee, Earl & Owen Christian, three sisters, Annie Thorne, Wanda Hamilton and Flora Williams. Visitation will be Sunday, September 19, 2010, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in Dexter, Missouri. Services will be held Monday, September 20, 2010, at 2:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Don Cox of Poplar Bluff, Missouri officiating. Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
