Jess Marion Brown, Jr. of Dexter, the son of Jess Marion, Sr. and the late Lura Mae Wilson Brown, was born in Frisco, Missouri on February 29, 1928, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on February 12, 2017, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 15 days.
Mr. Brown grew up in Frisco before moving to California with his wife. He returned to Dexter in 1988 after retiring as Postmaster of Santa Ana, California. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Frisco, Missouri, helped with his family farm and was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict.
On May 19, 1948, he was married to Colleen Marie Robinson in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2008.
Surviving are one brother, Bob Lee Brown of Dexter, many neices and nephews. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Mildred Tippen, Myrtle Millington, Ruth Coffey, Clara Baker, Willene Swinger and two brothers, Lloyd Brown and Lester Brown.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017, at 11:00 AM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Rev. James Malloy of Essex officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
