Jeanette West was born October 26, 1928 in rural Stoddard County, the youngest child of the late William Joseph Smith, and Edith Small Smith, and died December 5, 2012 at Potosi Manor Care Center in Potosi where she resided. She married William Lee (Bill) West on December 6, 1951 in Piggott, Arkansas. Mrs. West along with her husband was the owner of Myers Rexall Drugstore in downtown Dexter and she also worked as a clerk in many downtown businesses. After the death of her husband she moved to Holden Missouri to live with her son and daughter in law the Revs. Jim and Brenda West. With them she also moved to Webb City, Windsor, Carrollton, and Saint Louis where she was an active participant in each of her son's churches until her health deteriorated and she moved to Potosi Manor in 2009. She was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church in Saint Louis and had been active in the United Methodist Women's Units of each church her son pastored. She was preceeded in death by her parents and her husband, by her Brother Dennis Smith formerly of Chillicothe Illinois, and her sisters, Louise Evans and Melba Kildow formerly of Malden, Missouri. She is survived by her son and daughter in law of Belgrade Missouri, by her grandson James J. West of Columbia Missouri, her sisters in law Donna West and Verna Blankenship, her brother in law and his wife Charles and Elenora West all of Dexter as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Memorial Services will be held in the Activity Building of First General Baptist Church of Dexter, Missouri at 11:00 a.m December 22, 2012. Those attending are invited to share a simple finger food meal with the family, and share remembrances of her. There will be a private inurnment of ashes at the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the First General Baptist Church, 27 East Castor Street, Dexter, MO 63841, Harmony United Methodist Church, 2730 Walton Road, Saint Louis, MO 63114, TIP Hospice, 504 West Pine Street, Farmington Mo, 63640 or to any charity of your choice.
