Janie Rodgers, the daughter of the late Jewell Bryan and Fern Williams Bryan, was born at Morehouse, Missouri on December 16, 1931, and passed away at the Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Webster, Texas on July 24, 2006, at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 8 days.
She was a retired nurses aid having lived in the Morehouse and Matthews area most of her life before moving to Texas five years ago. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazerene in Matthews, Missouri where she served as a Sunday school teacher.
On May 8, 1975, she was married to Robert Lee Rodgers in Morehouse, Missouri. Her husband preceded her in death on December 15, 1996.
Surviving are one son: Larry Bryan of Alvin, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Abbie and Roger Ward of Sikeston, Missouri, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 step great-grandchild. She is also survived by 1 brother: Howard Bryan of Mobile, Alabama; 2 sisters: Lillian McCulley of Sikeston, Missouri and Vickie Sinden of Camden, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 2 sisters and 1 great-grandson.
Friends may call from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 27, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2006, at 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse, Missouri with the Rev. Don Heitman of Matthews, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
