James W. Temple, the son of the late Fred and Christa Haynes Temple, was born in Dexter, Missouri on July 10, 1924, and passed away at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on October 19, 2008, at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 9 days. Mr. Temple had worked in St. Louis, Missouri for thirty-five years and moved back to the Puxico, Missouri area in the 1960's. He was a retired dry cleaner and had owned and operated his own dry cleaning business, Puxico Cleaners. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Asherville, Missouri. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and had served in the elite 10th Mountain Division during WWII and was a lifetime member of the Puxico VFW Post #7822. On December 15, 1957, he was married to Ruth Malkowski in Hernando, Mississippi. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Temple of Puxico, Missouri; one son, Roy (Stacie) Temple of Alexandria, Virginia; three daughters, Kathy (Doug) Scott, Michelle (Robert) Thomason all of Puxico, Missouri, Debbie (Don) Mueller of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Adam Thomason, Natalie Temple, Lily Temple, Aaron Mueller, Don Mueller, Rachel Mueller, Nathan Scott and Christa Scott; two great grandchildren, Ben Mueller and Ava Mueller. Many other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Temples and three sisters, Lorene Cox, Alene Fleming and Margaret Garner. Friends may call on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, after 5:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. VFW services will be conducted at 7:00 PM by the Puxico VFW Post #7822. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at 10:00 AM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Bro. Terry Stockman of Sikeston, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery near Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
