James Earl Skelton, son of the late James Melvin and Mollie Cornelia Walker Skelton, was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on December 12, 1923, and passed away at the John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on February 5, 2011, at the age of 87 years, 1 months and 24 days.
Mr. Skelton had lived in Bloomfield, Missouri all of his life. He attended the Bloomfield Assembly of God Church. He had been a cattle farmer all of his life and was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WWII.
On December 18, 1954, he was married to Ruby Pauline Matthews in Hernando, Mississippi.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Pauline Skelton of Bloomfield, Missouri; two sons, Larry Parker of Dexter, Missouri; Garry Parker of Bloomfield, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Chad, Jason, Heather and Matthew Parker, Jennifer Whatley, Casey Williams and Matt Banken; six great grandchildren; one sister, Amanda Smith of Dexter, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive.
Friends may call on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of arrangements. Full military honors will be provided by Missouri Military Honors and American Legion Post 59 of Dexter, Missouri.
