James Dow Robinson, son of the late Deloyce Benjamin and Mary Grace Carter Robinson, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on August 8, 1943, and passed away at the John J. Pershing V. A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on February 24, 2021, at the age of 77.
James was born in Poplar Bluff and moved away with his family at a young age. James was veteran of the US Navy having served during the Vietnam War. James became a barber and operated his own barber shop the "Village Barber". James enjoyed music and was a talented artist having constructed many intricate collages one of which was hung in the Dexter Post office for many years. James possessed a jovial personality and had a way to make strangers smile, laugh and become instant friends. On June 12, 1982 James married Ocie Heaton in Dexter, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife Ocie Robinson of Dexter, one son Billy Robinson of Dexter, Missouri and two sisters, Ann Smyth of St. Louis, Missouri and June Horton of Fort Wayne, Alabama. Other relatives and friends also survive. James was preceded in death by one son; Michael Chance Robinson and two brothers, Carter Robinson and Tommy Robinson..
There will be a private family service at a later date. James will be buried at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors. Buddy Heaton will be leading the service.
