James Freeman Hampton, son of the late James Willie "Buddy" and Ruby Mae Halcrombe Hampton, was born at Trail Back near Essex, Missouri on February 18, 1947, and passed away at the Ridgeview Living Center in Malden February 5, 2017, at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 16 days.
Mr. Hampton had lived in Essex and Sikeston most of his life. He had worked on road construction with MODOT. He was a member of Mt. Zion Church near Essex and was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
Surviving are one brother, Amos Hampton of Sikeston; six sisters and spouses, Nancy & Series McLeod, Johnnie & Robert Beechham and Deborah Evans all of Memphis, Tennessee, Gerldine Hampton, Earnestine & Robert Jones all of Malden, and Lisa Hampton of Poplar Bluff. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death a sister, Gladys Marie Dalton and a brother, Timmie Louis "T" Hampton.
Friends may visit Friday, February 10, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Amos Hampton of Sikeston officiating.
Interment with be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
