James Cato, son of the late Sylvester and Leona Bennett Cato, was born in Greenbriar, Missouri on September 13, 1927, and passed away at the St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on December 23, 2007, at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 10 days.
Mr. Cato had lived in Kinder, Missouri until moving to St. Louis, Missouri in 1951. He was retired after 33 years as a machine operator for McCabe-Powers Body in St. Louis, Missouri. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing with his grandchildren.
On November 6, 1948, he was married to Essye Mae Watson in Bloomfield, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2005.
Surviving are two sons and daughters in law, James & Penny Cato of St. Louis, Missouri, Larry & Bell Cato of Cibola, Texas; four daughters and sons in law, Beverly & Robert Engler, Barbara & Allen Seaton, LeDeana & Bob Stahl and LeDonna Cato all of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother & sister in law, Winford & Jean Cato of Bloomfield, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Truman, and Hadley Cato and one sister, Pearlene Cato.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 27, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Bro. Dale Holman of Sturdivant, Missouri officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brush Creek Cemetery near Arab, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
