James Harold Barnes, son of the late Harvey and Edith Rieffer Barnes, was born in Gideon, Missouri on August 17, 1933, and passed away at the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on September 26, 2010, at the age of 77 years.
Mr. Barnes had lived in the Dudley, Missouri area all his life. He was a retired farmer. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Korea. He loved mules and was a sharpshooter in the military.
On September 27, 1957, he was married to Mary Ellen Williams near Dexter, Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 7, 2000.
Surviving are one son, Garry Wayne Barnes of Dexter, Missouri; one daughter, Dana Faye Wilson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; five grandchildren, Brandon Wayne Barnes, Colby Garrett Barnes, Justin William Barnes, Marcy Dana Wilson and April Loraine Jones. Other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by one son, Barry James Barnes.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 28, 2010, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in Dexter, Missouri.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 10:00 AM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Bob Bradford of Advance, Missouri officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
