J. D. Parks
J. D. Parks, the son of the late William Bryant and Ethel Cooper Parks, was born in Spur, Texas on January 29, 1917, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing & Rehab Center in Puxico, Missouri on December 19, 2009, at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 20 days.
Mr. Parks had lived in Sikeston, Missouri before moving to Midland, Texas. He and his wife moved back to Puxico in 1983. He was a member of the Providence Baptist Church near Puxico where he served his church as deacon and sunday school superintdent for many years. He had served in the Civil Conservation Corp. He most enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are wife, Edith Parks of Puxico, Missouri; one daughter, Hermena (Harold) Holigan of Dallas, Texas; Six grandchildren: Michael (Debbie) Holigan of Dallas, Texas, Rebecca (Chris) Smeltzer of Brentwood, Tennessee, Sarah Holligan of Dallas, Texas, Julie (Brian) Wiblin of Dallas, Texas, Paul (Jolie) Grant of Yakima, Washington and Lisa Strehlow of Grapevine, Texas. Thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, John Parks of Morehouse, Missouri, Jim Parks of Center, Texas; two sisters, Captola Fodge and Hilda McClung both of Sikeston, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry E. Park, a twin brother JB Parks, two sisters Bunch DeRoush and Lois Mills.
Friends may call after 5:00 PM on Monday December 21, 2009, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Elder Donald Adams of Matthews, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Rock Hill Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
