Ivan Ellis Morlan, the son of the late John Alfred and Clara Ellen McCoy Morlan, was born in Lowndes, Missouri on February 22, 1922, and passed away at his home in rural Bloomfield, Missouri on October 14, 2008, at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 22 days.
Mr. Morlan had grown up in the Studivant and Avert communities and had lived in the Bloomfield, Missouri area most of his life. He had attended the Beechgrove Church early in life and now attended the Mount Pisgah Church in Aquilla, Missouri. He was a row crop and cattle farmer, and an avid hunter and fisherman. Most of all he loved his wife, children, his farm, church and community, commenting many times, "that was all he ever needed."
On March 2, 1940, he was married to Bessie Allen Harper in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie Morlan of Bloomfield, Missouri; two sons, Autry Morlan of Bloomfield, Missouri, John Morlan of West Plains, Missouri; one daughter, Gale Wilson of Bloomfield, Missouri; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Maxine Culberson of Alton, Illinois. He also leaves three dear sister-in-laws, Hattie, Sybil and Marion. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Ellis Morlan, four brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call on Thursday October 16, 2008, from 5:00 to 8:00 P at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2008, at 2:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Bob Holland of Bloomfield, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow at the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
