Iva Mae Arnett, the daughter of the late Carl and Minerva Jane Thompson (Shadowens), was born in Mingo, Missouri on September 30, 1918, and passed away at the Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on May 24, 2008, at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 25 days.
Mrs. Arnett lived in Washington, DC until 1971 when she moved to Puxico. In 1991 she moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Puxico where she was very active as a Sunday School Teacher to the youth. She was an accomplished baker, and loved sharing her food with her many friends.
On June 19, 1946, she was married to Julius Warren Arnett, Jr. in Washington, DC. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1991
Surviving are her daughter, Carlene (Michael) Braun of Potomac, Maryland; two granddaughters: Danielle (Jeff) Arnett Brown of Sarasota, Florida, and Kelley Anne (Ari) Redbord of Washington, DC; two great grandsons: Jordan Chase and Aiden Joseph Brown both of Sarasota, Florida; Cousins Lillie Payton and Mary McLean, and her loving caregiver Ginger Hendrix all of Puxico, Missouri. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28 , 2008, at 11:00 AM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Marshall Link of Puxico, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
