Irvon Clay Carter Irvon Clay Carter, son of the late James Olen and Dora Jane Ketcherside Carter, was born in Ellsinore, Missouri on September 18, 1936, and passed away at his home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on June 20, 2009, at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 2 days. Mr. Carter had lived in Dexter before moving to Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He retired from Purolator factory in Dexter after twenty seven years. He was a member of the Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri. On July 3, 1956, he was married to Mary E. Link in Bernie, Missouri. Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Carter of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three daughters, Carline Hampton of Essex, Missouri, Darline Grebe and Donna Zavadil both of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; 4 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. One sister Ira Mae Abbott of Dexter, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survives. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Myrtle McGowen and one brother Henry L. Carter. Friends may call on Sunday, June 21, 2009, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 22, 2009, at 10:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Rick Roberts of Essex, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
