Martha Nell Irene Hughes, daughter of the late Sid and Mary Vera James Hensley, was born in Linden, Tennessee on March 8, 1935, and passed away at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston, Missouri on September 11, 2013, at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 2 days. She had lived in the Morehouse area most of her life. She was a cook at Morehouse School and a member of the First Oneness Pentecostal Church in Morehouse, Missouri. On August 16, 1949, she was married to J.W. Hughes in Pigott, Arkansas. He survives in the home. Surviving are three daughters, Rhodia Fiddler of Lexington, Tennessee, Margie Ruedrich and Angela Graham both of Sikeston, Missouri; two sons, Russell Hughes of Puxico, Missouri and Paul Hughes of Sikeston, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Jo Coffman of Matthews, Missouri and Frankie Hicks of Sikeston, Missouri . Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, John William Hughes, four brothers, and three sisters. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 after 11:00 AM at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter, Missouri Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 14 , 2013, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. John Ruedrich of Scott City, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Matthews City Cemetery in Matthews, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
