Homer F. Woods, son of the late Amos Franklin and Mandalia McCoy Woods, was born near Bernie, Missouri on April 27, 1924, and passed away at his home near Dexter, Missouri on October 19, 2013, at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 22 days.
He had spent ten years in Conroe, Texas and four in Silva, Missouri before returning to the Dexter area in 1992. He was a member of the Elk General Baptist Church near Broseley, Missouri.
On December 22, 1944, he was married to Golda Mae Etheridge in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on November 24, 2001.
Surviving are one son, William "Bill" Woods of Dexter; one daughter, Joann Harmon of Kennett; four grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Other family and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Woods, and four sisters, Nadine Mauriece, Erma Davis, Mabel Brickeen and Opal Belll; two brothers, Willie and Ervil Woods.
Visitation will be held on Monday October 21, 2013 after 12:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Monday October 21, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Dan Ross of Silva, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
