Clyde "Cotton" Babb, Jr., the son of the late Clyde and Mary Farmer Babb, was born in Senath, Missouri on February 25, 1931, and passed away at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on May 9, 2008, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 14 days. Mr. Babb had lived in Dexter, Missouri most of his life. He was a retired Chevrolet mechanic and was a member of the New Bethel General Baptist Church near Dexter. He had served as a deacon since August, 1982. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. On August 5, 1950, he was married to Carrie Jean Hanback in Piggott, Arkansas. Surviving are his wife, Carrie Jean Babb of Dexter, Missouri; one son, Steve Babb of Bernie, Missouri; one daughter, Karan King of Essex, Missouri; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister in Arizona. Many other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one sister. Friends may call on Sunday, May 11, 2008, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 12, 2008, at 10:00 AM at the New Bethel General Baptist Church near Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Dean Williams and Rev. Clifford Wray both of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
