Colleen Campbell
Colleen Campbell, daughter of the late John Jesse and Naomi Nelda Smith Pulis, was born in Audrain County, Missouri on March 6, 1922, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing Center in Puxico, Missouri on July 27, 2011, at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 21 days.
She had lived in Mexico and St. Louis, Missouri before moving to Puxico, Missouri in 1947. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Puxico, the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 7822 in Puxico. She was an RN, had trained as a nurse cadette in the U. S. Army, had been the school nurse for the Puxico Public Schools for 20 years, worked at the hospitals in Poplar Bluff and loved to read, play games, watch birds, gardening and her grandchildren.
On April 5, 1947, she was married to Herman Campbell in St. Louis, Missouri.
Surviving are her husband, Herman Campbell of Puxico, Missouri; daughter and spouse, Pam & Allen Parsley of Puxico, Missouri;two sons & spouse, Bruce & Barb Campbell of Puxico, Missouri, Randy Campbell of Dover, New Jersey; grandchildren and spouses, Jimmy & Jennifer Parsley, Jodi & John Walker, Ben & Jenny Campbell, Brittany & Matt Fox, J. R. & Melissa Campbell, Marcy Parsley; ten great grandchildren, Jacey, Mason, Emma, and Tommy Parsley, Hunter Walker, Gracie, Brylee, Brayden and Evan Campbell, Matti Fox; three sisters, Nelda Monk of Mexico, Missouri, Lila White of Paris, Missouri and Carol Bradley of Auxvasse, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one grandson, Jay Parsley, two brothers, James and Dale Pulis, four sisters, Vivian Gipson, Velma Bradley, Hazel Kable and Rosalind Haverstick.
Friends may visit on Saturday, July 30, 2011, after 10:00 am at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011, at 1:00 pm at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Dennis Doublin of Puxico, Missouri and Rev. David Edwards of Poplar Bluff, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
