Harrell Verdell Grindstaff
Harrell Verdell Grindstaff, the son of the late John and Louella Boyd Grindstaff, was born in Arab, Missouri on August 7, 1925, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing Center in Puxico, Missouri on January 29, 2005, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 22 Days.
Mr. Grindstaff had spent thirty years in Alton, Illinios and returned to Puxico in 1974. He was retired from Laclede Steel in Alton, Illinois, was a member of the Brown General Baptist Church near Puxico, Missouri and enjoyed fishing and working in his yard.
On December 24, 1943, he was married to Lorene Lou Hastings in Marble Hill, Missouri. She preceded him in death on July 18, 1988. On March 28, 1990 he was married to Odean Rowe in Puxico, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife: Odean Grindstaff of Puxico, Missouri, four daughters: Shelby Rodgers and Nancy Bivens both of Bethalto, Illinois, Jeanie Adams of Portageville, Missouri, Jennifer Baskett of Columbia, Missouri, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two brothers: Norman Grindstaff of Jerseyville, Illinois, and Carl Grindstaff or East Alton, Illinois. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son: Johnny Grindstaff, one daughter: Shirley Jean Grindstaff, one great granddaughter: Melissa Rodgers, two brothers; Hassel and Everett Grindstaff and one sister; Jewel Grable.
Friends may call at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico on Monday, January 31, 2005, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at 11:00 AM in the Brown General Baptist Church near Puxico, Missouri with Rev. Johnny Buttry of Puxico, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Brown Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
