Everett Craig, son of the late Hallie Everett, Sr. and Nira Norman Craig, was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on August 16, 1920, and passed away at the Gideon Care Center in Gideon, Missouri on July 30, 2010, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 14 days.
Mr. Craig had lived in Arkansas before moving to Essex, Missouri in 1953. He had been a teacher and farmed for many years. He served for several years on the Richland School Board and was a member of the Life Church in Sikeston, Missouri and a past member of the Essex Lions Club.
He was first married to Ruby Frazier, she preceded him in death on February 5, 1988. He later married Maxine Fakes in April 18, 1989
Surviving are his wife, Maxine Craig of Sikeston, Missouri; four sons, Robert "Bob" Craig and Joe Craig both of Dexter, Missouri, David Craig of Sikeston, Missouri, Danny Craig of Alexandria, Louisiana; one daughter, Diane Craig of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; a granddaughter raised by Mr. & Mrs. Craig, Beth Newberry of Kentucky; seven grandchildren: Beth Craig Newberry, Matthew Craig, Rebecca Boyd, Elizabeth Craig, Sarah Craig, John Craig and Paul Craig. Five great grandchildren: Charlie Newberry, Clayton Newberry, Nola Craig, Everett Craig and Finnley Craig.
Other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeanice Craig Skaggs; one brother O'Neal Craig; and one sister, Nan Watson.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 1, 2010, after 1:00 PM at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Services will be held Sunday, August 1, 2010, at 3:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. David Craig of Sikeston, Missouri and Rev. Danny Craig of Alexandria, Louisiana officiating.
Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
