Grace Opal Barnfield, daughter of the late Charlie and Maude Bell Lincoln Carnes, was born in Zalma, Missouri on November 3, 1914, and passed away at her home in Puxico, Missouri on November 10, 2007, at the age of 93 years and 7 days.
Mrs. Barnfield had lived all her life in Puxico. She had worked on the family farm, as a nurses aid at the Poplar Bluff Hospital and was a cook at the Puxico Schools for many years. She was a member of the Corinth General Baptist Church near Puxico, Missouri. She loved to cook and play with her grandchildren.
On November 18, 1932, she was married to Earl Barnfield in Greenville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 22, 1990.
Surviving are five sons, Clyde Barnfield, Troy Barnfield, Alva Barnfield, and Larry Barnfield all of Puxico, Missouri, Bobby Barnfield of Bloomfield, Missouri; one daughter, Geneva Teeters of Dexter, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Ellis Carnes of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Donald Carnes of Garden Grove, California. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Earl Edward Barnfield.
Friends may call on Sunday, November 11, 2007, after 5:00 P.M. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 12, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Ray Placher of Puxico, Missouri officiating and Rev. Bob Bradford of Arbor, Missouri asssisting.
Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
