Gladys Wilburn, the daughter of the late Bertha Graves Clark, was born in Dexter, Missouri on March 6, 1921, and passed away at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on February 20, 2007, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 14 days. Mrs. Wilburn had lived in Dexter, Missouri all of her life. She had worked at the La Hub Cafe, Elders Manufacturing Company and the Hat Factory. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri. She was first married to Floyd Gaines and he preceded her in death. On April 9, 1971, she was married to Russell Dallas Wilburn. He preceded her in death on February 29, 1992. Surviving are two sons and daughters in law, Marlin "Moe" & Beth Gaines of Sikeston, Missouri, Gene & Susan Gaines of Dexter, Missouri; two daughters, Wanda Carwile of Dexter, Missouri and Pat Wills of Festus, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren; and one sister, Mamie Campbell of Dexter, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by four sisters. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2007, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
