Gladys Lorene Steward, daughter of the late Fred and Delpha Campbell Cantrell, was born in Thayer, Missouri on April 9, 1927, and passed away at the Southern Missouri Healthcare in Dexter on July 13, 2011, at the age of 84 years.
Gladys worked at Senath Nursing Home for twenty-three years as a CNA, retired in 1993 and moved to Bloomfield. She enjoyed word search puzzles, yard sales, and family reunions, especially fourth of July and family get togethers. She also loved Josh Turner and Elvis Presley along with country music shows. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, she was like a little kid opening presents and especially enjoyed her grandchildren when opening their gifts. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Bloomfield before her illness kept her from attending.
Surviving are six sons & spouses, Ivan & Tanya Bostic of Bloomfield, Clyde Bostic of Nixa, Jim & Mary Bostic of Flint, MI, Wayne & Faye Bostic of Dexter, Ronnie and Regina Bostic of Wilson, Arkansas, Gene Gillenwater of Nixa, Missouri; one daughter, Deborah Gillenwater of Kennett; twenty-three grandchildren, Connie, Calvin, Ivan Jr., Tracy, Dwayne, Wendy, Amy, Jason, Chad, Angie, Rusty, Beth Ann, Tony, Anthony, Tina, Mike, Alicia, Alan, Catrese, Ronnie Joe, Shane, Sara and Eric; forty-three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, Herbert Cantrell of Bald Knob, Arkansas; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Hubert Cantrell and one great grandchild.
Friends may call on Friday, July 15, 2011, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Services will be on Saturday June 16, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the Chiles-Cooper Chapel in Bloomfield.
Interment will be in the Lulu Cemetery in Senath with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
