Gladys Mae Mallory, the daughter of the late James Edwin and Lilly Irene Bright Mardis, was born in Fairbury, Illinois on September 27, 1937, and passed away at her home in Dexter, Missouri on September 14, 2007, at the age of 69 years, 11 months, and 18 days. Mrs. Mallory had lived in Dexter, Missouri since 1969. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri. Her bravery and courage throughout her life was an inspiration to everybody she met and she will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her. On February 10, 1957, she was married to Duane K. Mallory in Bloomington, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1995. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Andy Eubanks of Pineville,Louisiana, Lori and Melvin Davis of Crossville, Tennessee, Karen and Willie Fortman of Dexter, Missouri; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; one step-great great grandchild; four brothers, Alvin and Richard Mardis of Bloomington, Illinois, Larry Mardis of Jonesboro, Georgia, Edward Mardis of Escondido, California; three sisters, Jewell Brown and Shirley Sullivan of Bloomington, Illinois and Juanita Malcom of Heyworth, Illinois. Other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Roger Mardis. Friends may call on Saturday September 15, 2007, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Sunday September 16, 2007, at 2:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Danny Collins of Broseley, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
