Gladys DeJournett, daughter of the late William Henry and Mattie Suzanne Scism Warren, was born in Ardeola, Missouri on September 28, 1920, and passed away at her home near Advance, Missouri on October 9, 2011, at the age of 91 years.
Mrs. DeJournett had lived in the area all her life. She was a member of the Bell City General Baptist Church in Bell City, Missouri.
On February 17, 1940, she was married to Alvin DeJournett in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Surviving are her husband, Alvin DeJournett of Advance, Missouri; one son, Alan DeJournett of Advance, Missouri; four daughters, Faye Crutcher of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Shelby Gillilan of Bell City, Missouri, Una Hatfield and Patty Gadberry both of Advance, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Woodfin of Advance, Misouri. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by five sons in infancy, two brothers and one sister.
Friends may visit on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Blooomfield, Missouri.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at 2:00 PM in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Turner of Marble Hill, Missouri and Beverly Rhodes of Advance, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
